                                         Storytelling Time!

Oklevueha Native American Church of Kautantowit's Mecautea honor and respect the importance of Storytelling... it is the way that once upon a time we human beings were taught the wisdom and knowledge needed in order to literally survive, as well as excitingly pass time among the tribal members. Unlike today, our ancestor relations had no television sets, muchless any of the electronical components that can now hook up to them to help them do even more seemingly amzing things. They didn't have story books to read from or even listen to on cassette tape... they didn't even have, nor did they find the need to errect schools or conduct classroom type settings designed to force children and people to learn... they communicated directly with one another and that alone is where they got their wisdom and intelligence from... one another, and more importantly... from our elders.

The stories were passed down from generation to generation, mainly by the elders in the tribes to the younger generations. Fortunately for us today, technology has led us into the internet age, where ONAC KM has now the ability to access many of the legends and stories taught by Many of the First Nations and First Peoples tribal wisdom, and to offer access of them to you our tribal members as well as those visiting our site in the hopes of better understanding about our church and studies, and that all of you appreciate as well as learn from the wisdom to be found in them.

 Tales from the Longhouse

In this video, Joseph M. Marshall III narrates "The Story of The Giants"

As you the non-children will note,this legend parallyls to  Genesis 6:4-6 of the King James Version (KJV) ;

4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart
